The Vivo X Fold 5 is set to make its debut in China on June 25, with the company gradually revealing more about the device’s features. Recent announcements have brought to light the design and color options, alongside the confirmation of its specifications by a senior official from Vivo.
Details on Vivo X Fold 5’s Dimensions and Charging Capabilities
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao shared new insights on Weibo, indicating that the Vivo X Fold 5 will be “approximately 2mm thinner and 20 grams lighter” than its predecessor, the X Fold 3 Pro.
In comparison, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro features a folded thickness of 11.2mm and an unfolded thickness of 5.2mm, weighing in at 236g. Thus, the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to tip the scales at around 216g and measure about 9.2mm thick when folded. The unfolded device may also have a profile slimmer than 5mm.
In addition, a post on Weibo also highlighted that the Vivo X Fold 5 will feature support for 80W wired and 40W wireless fast charging, along with reverse charging capability. The smartphone will be equipped with a substantial 6,000mAh battery and is expected to achieve IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ ratings for water resistance, in addition to an IP5X rating for dust resistance.
For photography enthusiasts, the Vivo X Fold 5 will boast a Zeiss-branded triple rear camera setup, including a periscope telephoto lens featuring 3x optical zoom. The device will also display 8T LTPO panels for both its inner and cover displays, offering a local peak brightness of 4,500 nits and a high-frequency PWM dimming rate.
Moreover, the Vivo X Fold 5 has been confirmed to be compatible with Apple’s iCloud, AirPods, MacBooks, and the Apple Watch. The smartphone will be available in various color options including green, titanium, and white. Pre-orders for the device are currently being accepted on the Vivo China website.
