Valiance Solutions has unveiled CivicEye, an advanced AI-driven surveillance system aimed at enhancing public safety. The company, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics solutions, reports that its new technology is capable of detecting various forms of public disorder and illegal activities, including traffic violations, theft, and unauthorized street vendor encroachment. CivicEye is currently being piloted in key cities of Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with local government authorities. Furthermore, Valiance Solutions assures that the system adheres to India’s data privacy standards as mandated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
CivicEye Portal Restricted to Government Officials and Law Enforcement
The CivicEye system is engineered to bolster public safety and optimize law enforcement efficiency. Utilizing Google Cloud infrastructure, it processes extensive video data, facilitating real-time surveillance across roads and other public spaces.
Equipped with proprietary AI models, CivicEye can identify traffic violations such as speeding and illegal parking, monitor disturbances in public areas, assess crowd density, and spot road hazards like potholes and stray animals, while sending alerts to relevant authorities. Additionally, it features crime detection capabilities designed to recognize incidents like chain snatching and public altercations, as well as monitoring for unauthorized street vendors.
The pilot program for CivicEye is rolling out in specific cities within Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, utilizing both existing CCTV infrastructures and newly deployed cameras to enhance public safety monitoring.
Access to CivicEye will be provided through a web portal and mobile application, restricted exclusively to governmental bodies and police departments. The AI system is hosted in data centers approved by MeitY, and it is noteworthy that CivicEye is currently pending patent approval.
During a press conference, Gadgets 360 inquired whether the system would process identifiable information such as vehicle registration details and individual faces. The company clarified that CivicEye does not engage in facial recognition and that vehicle number plates will be accessible solely to authorized personnel.
Valiance Solutions further stated that once operational, the company would have no access to CivicEye’s data except for necessary maintenance and software updates. When questioned about the data used for training its AI models, the company confirmed that these models were developed using publicly available datasets and internal simulation data.
The firm addressed concerns regarding AI inaccuracies, commonly referred to as hallucinations, along with the percentage of false reporting regarding infractions. Valiance Solutions noted that, although some instances of hallucination do occur, the accuracy level for critical infractions such as theft was recorded at 99 percent during internal evaluations, with a 97 percent accuracy for less serious violations.
Currently, CivicEye is being tested in Vijayawada and Banda, with installations also taking place in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh. The company intends to complete full deployment in these regions within the upcoming months and has plans for future expansions into additional cities.
