Ubisoft has provided a concise update regarding the upcoming remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which is anticipated to launch in 2026. Initially entering full production in 2022, the game remains deeply entrenched in its development phase, according to the company. Ubisoft has yet to reveal specific information about the remake or confirm the official release date, although during its FY 2025 earnings call in May, the company indicated that the title is set to be released before April 2026.
Progress on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Continues
In a recent post on X from the official Prince of Persia account, Ubisoft stated, “Yep, we’re still deep in the game — exploring, building, and ensuring the sands move with purpose. This game is being crafted by a team that truly cares, and they’re pouring their hearts (and a lot of coffee) into every step. Thank you for sticking with us.”
Additionally, Ubisoft encouraged fans to try out The Rogue Prince of Persia, a roguelike platformer developed by Evil Empire, the team behind Dead Cells. This game, which has been available in early access since last year, is slated for a full launch in August 2025.
“While development continues behind the scenes, there’s another adventure waiting for you right now: The Rogue Prince of Persia — fast, stylish, and built with the same dedication,” the company remarked.

The latest development update was accompanied by new artwork depicting an elaborate palace set against a vibrant pink sky. Details surrounding the Sands of Time remake remain limited, with Ubisoft maintaining a low profile regarding the project and offering updates infrequently.
During the May earnings call, Ubisoft confirmed that the remake, along with other titles, is on track for release before April 2026. This announcement came after the company opted to delay several of its major projects following the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
This development update follows a year after Ubisoft declared that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake had transitioned from pre-production to full production phase, announcing a targeted release window of 2026 along with a teaser trailer.
Initially revealed at Ubisoft Forward in 2020, the remake has undergone numerous challenges over the years, experiencing multiple delays. Originally developed by teams in Pune and Mumbai, the project was reassigned to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022, with contributions from Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Pune, and E-Studio.
