Ubisoft has announced a delay for several of its major upcoming titles in order to allocate more development time and enhance the chances of success, the company disclosed during its fiscal year 2025 earnings call on Wednesday. While the French game developer did not specify which titles are affected, it confirmed that some will be rescheduled for fiscal years 2026-27 and 2027-28. Despite this, Ubisoft pointed to the “healthy performance” of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, although it reported a decline of more than 20 percent in net bookings for FY 2024-25.
Delays Announced by Ubisoft
Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot revealed that the company undertook a review of its release timeline, leading to the decision to delay certain games currently in development. These titles are likely to comprise some of Ubisoft’s most significant franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, among others.
“Following an extensive review of the pipeline conducted from October to December, the Group has decided to provide additional development time for several of its major productions to create optimal conditions for success,” Ubisoft stated in a press release issued after its latest financial report.
The company highlighted the successful launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which had previously experienced two delays before its release on March 20. Although the specific sales figures were not disclosed, Ubisoft stated that Shadows has “delivered a solid performance, clearly surpassing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.”
“This decision to delay has already yielded improvements in the quality of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. FY2026-27 and FY2027-28 will witness substantial growth compared to FY2025-26, supported by strong content from our largest franchises,” Ubisoft added.
While the development of a sequel to 2021’s Far Cry 6 is reportedly underway, Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement. The developer has confirmed, however, the next main installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, titled Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, alongside a multiplayer version called Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus. The newly delayed titles could potentially include these games.

Upcoming Game Releases for 2025-26
Despite the delays, Ubisoft has a lineup of games set to debut in FY 2025-26. Beyond expecting further sales from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is set to receive its first major expansion later this year, titles such as Anno 117: Pax Romana, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, Rainbow Six Mobile, and The Division Resurgence are scheduled for release before April 2026. The company has indicated that additional games will be revealed at a later date.
This marks the first update on the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake in nearly a year, since Ubisoft indicated the game would launch in 2026. The project has completed its pre-production phase and is now in full production as of June 2024.
Ubisoft’s Financial Performance for FY 2025
In its fiscal year 2025 earnings report, Ubisoft disclosed net bookings of EUR 1.85 billion (approximately Rs. 17,736 crore), reflecting a 20.5 percent decrease compared to the previous fiscal year. Nonetheless, the company expressed confidence in the resilience of its key franchises, reporting that unique active players for both the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six series remained steady at about 30 million for the fourth consecutive year. The Far Cry series maintained around 20 million unique players during the same timeframe.
Ubisoft also detailed the positive initial reception of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, while refraining from disclosing specific sales figures for the title, which ranks as the franchise’s second-largest Day 1 launch following Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
“To date, consumer spending has clearly outperformed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, with player numbers also surpassing it. Players have logged 160 million hours in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, highlighting its engaging experience and the continuing appeal of the franchise,” the company noted.
Ubisoft confirmed that Shadows will receive ongoing free updates and new content, including the Claws of Awaji expansion scheduled for release later this year.
