Ubisoft has confirmed that a new installment in the Ghost Recon series is currently in development, as stated by company executives during this month’s annual general meeting. While the developer has yet to make a formal announcement regarding the title, it has previously indicated that multiple unannounced projects from its well-known franchises are in progress. The last Ghost Recon game released was 2019’s Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which did not meet sales expectations.

Ghost Recon on the Horizon

During Ubisoft’s recent annual general meeting, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that a new Ghost Recon game is part of the company’s upcoming projects. However, no specific title or release date was disclosed.

In the Q&A session with shareholders, Guillemot emphasized, “In addition to the flagship game that I just mentioned [Rainbow Six], our objective is to also make strong progress in the growing market, generally speaking, by continuing to enhance our current experiences that we offer, and capitalizing on upcoming launches, such as The Division and Ghost Recon.”

Ubisoft’s CFO, Frederick Duguet, also addressed the Ghost Recon franchise, noting that part of the company’s future plans is linked to substantial investments from Tencent. “So, we’ve got Ghost Recon — it’s just one example for our first-person shooter-type games,” he mentioned when asked about the allocation of these funds.

Future Titles from Ubisoft

While specific details were not provided, Duguet confirmed that Ubisoft’s forthcoming lineup will include several significant productions tied to its key franchises, expected to arrive during the fiscal year 2027-28. He highlighted that the studio is committed to giving its major titles the necessary time for development to achieve the desired quality.

Guillemot had expressed similar sentiments during Ubisoft’s FY 2025 earnings call in May, indicating that the company is postponing its “biggest productions” to facilitate additional development time, aiming to create the “best conditions for success.” He pointed to the positive reception of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which underwent two delays for enhancements before its March launch.

In addition to the Ghost Recon title, Ubisoft is simultaneously developing various projects, including the upcoming mainline single-player Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe; a multiplayer counterpart, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus; and a mobile project known as Assassin’s Creed Jade. Recently, Guillemot also confirmed that remakes of several older Assassin’s Creed titles are in the works, including a rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Additionally, new titles within popular franchises like Far Cry and Rainbow Six are reportedly under development. The remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is also in progress and aims for a release in 2026.

During the annual meeting, both Guillemot and Duguet responded to various shareholder concerns about Ubisoft and its franchises, revealing that Assassin’s Creed Shadows incurred costs exceeding EUR 100 million (approximately Rs. 1,000 crore), although the exact budget was not specified.

The meeting included a tense Q&A segment where shareholders expressed dissatisfaction regarding Ubisoft’s declining share price, which plummeted 40 percent in 2024 following the underwhelming performance of AAA titles Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. Guillemot suggested that the declining popularity of the Star Wars brand may have contributed to the latter game’s lack of success.

Earlier in March, Ubisoft announced plans to establish a new dedicated subsidiary focusing on its core intellectual properties, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, supported by a substantial EUR 1.16 billion (approximately Rs. 10,694 crore) investment from Tencent.
