Tinder has launched its Dating Safety Guide in four regional languages in India, as announced on Friday. The initiative, which precedes Safer Internet Day on February 11, was developed in partnership with the Centre for Social Research (CSR), a non-profit organization. This guide underscores Tinder’s commitment to fostering education and awareness regarding online dating safety in the Indian market. The development of the translated guide follows insights gathered from a recent survey conducted by the company.
Tinder Unveils Dating Safety Guide in Local Languages
The dating platform revealed that the guide is now available in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi. The original version of the Dating Safety Guide was released in English in September 2023 and has since garnered over one million views and 50,000 downloads, according to Tinder.
Findings from Tinder’s recent survey indicate that safety is the top concern among users preparing for their first dates with matches from the app. Furthermore, 37 percent of participants reported that they prefer to conduct a video call with their match prior to meeting in person.
Drawing from the survey results, Tinder noted that speakers of regional languages expressed a strong desire for educational resources in their native tongues. The company is thus dedicating itself to enhancing inclusivity and delivering informed dating experiences for a diverse Indian audience.
This month, Tinder users in India will receive in-app notifications promoting the availability of the Dating Safety Guide in the aforementioned languages. These notifications will also feature practical tips and online resources to help users navigate safety while dating and connecting with new people.
The Dating Safety Guide addresses a variety of crucial topics, including identifying “red flags,” which may indicate potential issues, and “green flags,” which signal respect and kindness. It also provides users with definitions, context, and guidance on utilizing the safety features offered within the Tinder application.
