Last night, TikTok experienced a temporary outage that affected users’ access to the platform. Reports of disruption began just after 11 PM ET, with many users noting that while they could still access some functions, technical difficulties were hindering the ability to view comments and navigate between accounts.

Users took to social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and Bluesky to share their experiences. Some videos were accessible through TikTok’s mobile applications, but functionalities such as comment viewing and account switching were inconsistent. This led to concerns about possible account suspensions among users. Attempts to visit the TikTok website or its support pages resulted in error messages, indicating “An error occurred while processing your request” along with a specific reference code.

At the time of the outage, TikTok did not publicly address the incident or explain the underlying issues. Status reports from service providers like Akamai and Oracle showed no significant outages. Data from Downdetector indicated that there were approximately 44,000 user-reported issues before the platform returned to normal functionality around midnight ET, although the exact cause of the technical difficulties remains unclear.

Update, June 3rd: The issues affecting TikTok have since been resolved.
