On Thursday, Threads unveiled three new features aimed at enhancing user experience on the Meta-owned social media platform. Users will now have the ability to schedule posts, analyze insights from individual posts, and add creative elements when reposting or quote-sharing content. While the scheduling and insights features are being rolled out broadly, the Markup tool will initially be launched in select regions before a global expansion.
New Features on Threads
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram and overseer of Threads, shared the news in a post on the platform. He emphasized that the newly introduced Post Scheduling, Post Insights, and Markup tools are designed to provide users with better management of their online presence.
The post-scheduling feature has been highly anticipated by users who previously had no option to set future dates for their posts. Threads has now addressed this need by integrating a scheduling option accessible via the three-dot menu in the composer interface. Users can select the preferred date and time for their post to go live.
Before publication, scheduled posts will appear in a user’s drafts folder, allowing for editing or deletion. Members of the Gadgets 360 team confirmed that users can schedule posts up to 76 days in advance.
In addition to scheduling, the Post Insights feature is now available to all users on both mobile apps and the web client. This feature provides valuable metrics, including views and interactions for each post. A new insights icon has been placed at the top of the profile tab, enabling users to select a date range and view detailed analytics. Posts can also be sorted by metrics such as views, likes, or replies.
The final new feature introduced is the Markup tool, which activates whenever users repost or quote-share a post. This tool enables users to embellish the original content with highlights, arrows, or doodles, adding a personal touch. Currently, the Markup feature is being tested in select countries, with plans for a future rollout to a wider audience.
