The Threads platform has introduced a new Following tab for both iOS and Android users, allowing them to view posts exclusively from the accounts they follow. The microblogging service, developed by Meta as a competitor to Twitter—which has now been rebranded as ‘X’—will now feature a chronological feed for posts. Previously, users experienced an algorithm-driven feed that mixed recommended content with posts from followed accounts. In addition, the platform has announced it is developing a web version of Threads, another capability that users have been anticipating since the app’s launch earlier this month.

The addition of a chronological feed comes in response to user demand, as many have expressed frustration over not being able to see the latest updates from their followed accounts, a feature that competitive platforms like X and Mastodon readily provide. On Tuesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the rollout of the Following feed to Threads users, along with a new translation feature.

To access the new Following feed, users must update Threads on their iPhone or Android device to the latest version and await activation of the feature on their accounts. While it appears to be a server-side update, numerous users have reported that they have already been able to enable it. Users can switch to the chronological feed by tapping the home button or the Threads logo at the top of the app. This will present two tabs: For you and Following, with the latter displaying posts in reverse chronological order.
