On Tuesday, Telegram introduced a significant update to its app, aimed at enhancing user experiences in starting conversations, navigating topics, and editing voice messages. Among the new features is the ability for users to send direct messages to channels, fostering private communication with channel owners and admins through a dedicated mode. The update also includes a revamped tab layout for group topics, allowing for quicker navigation, alongside an improved method for trimming voice messages before sending.
Telegram Updates
In a recent blog post, Telegram elaborated on these features. Users can now initiate direct messages to channels and engage in private chats with creators and admins, which is particularly beneficial for content creators wishing to interact with subscribers while maintaining their privacy. These conversations will be housed in a new interface distinct from standard personal chats. Additionally, content creators have the option to implement a fee for each direct message sent.
The update also enhances group discussions with a new layout for topics, aimed at providing more efficient access from the chat list. This feature allows users to navigate between conversations more seamlessly. Users can choose between a compact bar at the top of the chat or a larger side bar by adjusting settings within Group Settings > Topics.
Edit features for voice messages have also been improved. Users can now trim the start and end of their voice messages easily by swiping up to lock the recording. They can add more content by tapping the microphone icon to record additional sections.
In terms of photo sharing, Telegram has introduced a ‘High Definition’ option, which offers four times the pixel count while keeping file sizes under 0.5MB. Furthermore, users can now directly share media to their Telegram story from other applications using the standard ‘Share’ button available on iOS. Enhancements have also been made to polls, which can now include up to 12 options, and users are able to send polls to their Saved Messages for easy access later.
