Telegram has announced the launch of six new features aimed at enhancing the gifting experience for users, as detailed in a company statement on Thursday. This update allows users to showcase collectible gifts as emoji statues, transfer those gifts to the blockchain, and even auction them. Additionally, users will now have the capability to share collectible gifts through Telegram stories. This update marks the second significant enhancement of the year, following the January 1 release which introduced several functionalities, including an in-app QR code scanner and various message interaction options.
New Features on Telegram
With this new update, Telegram users can now display collectible gifts by setting them as emoji statuses. When activated, a sparkling star effect illuminates the profile, enhancing its visual appeal with the backdrop and representative symbol of the collectible. Users can manage this feature through My Profile > Gifts.
In a move that mirrors the functionality of collectible usernames and numbers, Telegram now enables users to transfer or auction their gifts via the TON blockchain. The platform emphasizes that this feature ensures permanent ownership of gifts, allowing users to retain control even if they lose access to or delete their accounts. Transferring a gift to a TON wallet unlocks additional advantages available through various auction platforms.
Furthermore, Telegram introduces a feature that permits users to send gifts to channels, a function designed for celebrating milestones and special events. Gifts sent to channels will appear on the channel’s profile and can be enhanced with Stars before dispatch. Channel owners will also have the ability to transfer gifts to other users or channels, or opt to auction them using the blockchain feature. This functionality is being rolled out gradually and is expected to expand over time.
Additional features include the ability to share collectible gifts on Telegram stories through animated previews and a new filtering option in the Gifts tab that allows users to categorize gifts based on collectible status, date received, and value. Moreover, channel administrators can adjust notifications to monitor incoming gifts effectively.
