On Thursday, Telegram announced a series of new features aimed at enhancing user experience on its messaging platform. The latest update broadens the scope of its artificial intelligence (AI) sticker search, now including custom stickers made by users. Additionally, there are various improvements related to video sharing and playback.
Telegram Unveils New Upgrades
This update marks the third significant enhancement to Telegram this year, with the company detailing these changes in a blog post. Among the key features introduced is an upgraded AI-driven sticker search tool.
First launched in December 2024, this feature allowed users to locate stickers by simply describing them using natural language. The AI model processes these prompts to find matching stickers based on visual cues. Previously limited to Telegram’s official sticker packs, the search capability now encompasses millions of community-created stickers. It supports 29 languages, including English, Spanish, Arabic, and Hindi.
In addition, Telegram has introduced a new functionality for video sharing that includes specific time stamps. Users can now copy and share links to videos that direct viewers to exact moments within the content. This ensures that when someone accesses the shared link, the video begins playing from the specified point.
Telegram channel administrators can now enhance their shared videos with custom cover photos. This new option allows users to select a particular frame from the video to serve as the cover image. Similar to Telegram Stories, this feature can be personalized with text, stickers, and emojis using the app’s video editing tools.
Moreover, Telegram has improved the viewing experience with a saved progress feature that tracks where users leave off in a video. This utility aims to streamline the process for those watching lengthy content, eliminating the need to manually search for their place upon returning to the video.
The platform is also expanding its Star reaction functionality, enabling users to respond to channel posts in alignment with their channel identity, thereby increasing visibility for content creators. Lastly, users will soon have the option to discover related bots from within bot profiles.
