This week, Telegram initiated the rollout of a significant update for its Android and iOS applications, introducing a variety of new features and enhancements. Users can now create shareable chat folders, enjoy custom wallpapers, experience an enhanced user interface, and utilize upgraded bot functionalities, along with new read time indicators in topic-based groups.
In a recent blog post, Telegram announced the latest iteration of its app, which features a shareable chat link option. This allows users to generate a link for their preferred chat folders, making it easier for friends or colleagues to join. Invitees can instantly access every chat within the folder with a single tap. Each folder can contain multiple invite links directed at different chats, and users have the option to personalize folder names, such as Office, Work, or Friends, akin to naming a chat group.
The update also introduces a custom wallpaper feature, enabling users to personalize specific chats. Once a wallpaper is assigned, the other chat participant will receive a notification to apply the same wallpaper on their side, fostering a cohesive conversational aesthetic.
Additionally, Telegram has upgraded its bot system, introducing capabilities for collaborative work and multiplayer functionalities. These bots can even utilize collectible usernames, including links that do not include the -bot suffix.
Other enhancements include faster scrolling for attachments by dragging down on the date bar and the implementation of read time notifications for groups using the topics feature, indicating when messages have been read by group members. The user interface has also seen improvements, allowing the creation of groups without the need to add participants, while new animations have been added for profile pictures on the latest iPhone models—showing a smooth transition into the dynamic island feature when scrolling through profiles and information pages.
