On Thursday, Telegram rolled out an array of new features designed to improve the user experience on its platform. Among the significant updates is a revamped in-app browser that allows for multiple tabs. This enhancement is now accessible to Telegram’s 950 million monthly active users, who can also gift Telegram Stars to their friends and family. This update follows the introduction of support for Microsoft’s AI chatbot, Copilot, just a month earlier.

Introducing Multi-Tab In-App Browser and Mini Apps Store on Telegram

In a detailed blog post, the company outlined the features included in the latest update. The new in-app browser allows users to open several tabs simultaneously, making it easier to navigate between different web pages within the app.

This updated browser also supports decentralized websites hosted on The Open Network (TON) across both mobile and desktop devices. Telegram users can now return to their chats without losing their browsing progress while viewing a webpage, ensuring a seamless experience.

Another notable addition is the new Apps tab within the Search feature, which enables users to explore the mini apps available on the platform. This tab allows users to view a list of apps they are already using, as well as to discover some of the most popular mini apps. Developers can now upload previews, including video demos and screenshots, to give users a better look at their offerings.

Additionally, content created through mini apps, like leaderboard snapshots and AI-generated videos, can now be shared directly as a Telegram Story. The feature also includes a new animated weather widget for Stories. Originally designed for purchasing content within mini apps or paid channels, Telegram Stars can now be gifted to friends and family.

For users who enjoy recording video stories, the front camera’s flash can now be utilized to illuminate the screen. The latest version of Telegram for iOS and Android will feature a new flash icon at the bottom-left corner of the camera interface. Users can also select a cover image for their video stories, personalizing the content they share.

Notably, these new features for the in-app browser and mini apps tab have also been made available for macOS users as part of the updates released in July, expanding access to these enhancements across multiple platforms.
