Major tech companies including Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have pledged their support for enhancing AI education for Americans during a White House event held on Thursday.
First Lady Melania Trump chaired a meeting of the White House’s AI education task force, where several corporate leaders expressed their commitments to AI education initiatives. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with an array of tech CEOs in the Rose Garden later in the day, with notable attendees such as Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s Tim Cook, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman, according to The Hill.
Google announced a plan to allocate $150 million from its previously pledged $1 billion for educational and job training purposes to support AI education and digital wellbeing through grants. Similarly, Microsoft is providing students with access to its Copilot product along with a complimentary year of Microsoft 365 Personal for those who validate their accounts through educational institutions, in addition to offering free LinkedIn Learning courses focused on AI to both students and educators. Meanwhile, Amazon has committed to training 4 million people in AI skills and providing AI curricula for 10,000 educators across the United States by the year 2028. Additionally, Amazon is offering $30 million in AWS credits to organizations that utilize cloud and AI technologies for educational purposes.
