GSC Game World announced on Wednesday that their survival-horror title, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, is set to launch for PlayStation 5 later this year. The first-person shooter originally debuted on Xbox Series S/X and PC last year, achieving over one million sales despite encountering various technical challenges at its release.
Stalker 2 Coming to PS5
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from the developer, “The Perimeter expands — S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is officially announced for PlayStation 5.” While GSC Game World did not specify an exact release date, they confirmed that the game is scheduled for release on PS5 in late 2025.
The PS5 version of Stalker 2 will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s advancements, featuring haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Additionally, GSC Game World revealed plans for technical improvements specifically for the PS5 Pro version of the game.
Players can already add Stalker 2 to their wishlist via the PlayStation Store.
On the same day, GSC Game World released Patch 1.5.1 for Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, implementing a variety of fixes on PC and Xbox Series S/X. The game faced numerous bugs and glitches upon its initial launch, many of which have been addressed through subsequent updates.
Stalker 2 made its debut on PC and Xbox Series S/X on November 20, 2024, after multiple delays. Initially, GSC Game World had planned for an April 2022 release, but the project’s development suffered significantly due to the ongoing conflict following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which even involved some employees being deployed to the frontlines.
In another related update, the PS Plus Game Catalog added Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy in May, offering a compilation of the first three Stalker games: Shadow of Chornobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Prypiat (2009).
