Hazelight Studios has announced that its innovative co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, has reached a significant milestone, selling four million copies since its launch. This news was revealed on Wednesday, following comments from publisher Electronic Arts during its Q4 2025 earnings call, where they noted that the game had been performing exceptionally well and surpassing expectations.
Split Fiction Proves Popular Among Players
In a message posted on X, Hazelight expressed gratitude for the game’s reception, stating, “So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing. Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight.”
With sales hitting four million, the game has potentially been enjoyed by approximately eight million players, as it requires two participants to play. However, only one player needs to purchase the game, while the other can join using the free Friend’s Pass feature.

Split Fiction has made a substantial impact for Electronic Arts as well. During the Q4 earnings call, EA reported a strong conclusion to FY 2025, attributing part of this success to the game, which launched to widespread acclaim in March. CEO Andrew Wilson highlighted its performance by stating, “Q4 also saw a strong launch of a new IP in Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios. This incredible title overperformed our expectations, captured global attention, and to date has reached nearly 4 million units sold. This success is proof that shared experiences paired with great stories and varied gameplay have the power to break through and capture the imaginations of people around the world.”
EA’s Chief Financial Officer, Stuart Canfield, also referred to Split Fiction as a “breakout success,” indicating that its sales nearly doubled the company’s initial forecasts.
Looking ahead, Hazelight is already planning its next venture, with studio director Josef Fares confirming in March that they are in the early development stages of a new project.
Split Fiction was released on March 6 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, quickly gaining critical acclaim and ranking as one of the top-rated games of 2025. The title achieved the impressive feat of selling over a million copies within the first 48 hours after its debut.
