In March, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive a significant title update that introduces the highly anticipated New Game+ mode, according to developer Insomniac Games. This update will also feature new suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, along with additional enhancements that will be detailed as the release date approaches. Originally slated for a late 2023 launch, the update has been postponed to early 2024, a change confirmed by Insomniac in December.
The announcement was made on X late Wednesday, where Insomniac shared information about the New Game+ mode, the new suits, and various other features to be included in next month’s update. A specific release date has not been provided, but further details outlining the complete list of features will be communicated prior to the update’s arrival.
Originally, the update was expected to focus solely on the New Game+ mode, which allows players to replay the game’s story while retaining their acquired abilities and gear upgrades. However, Insomniac later indicated that additional player-requested features would also be incorporated into the update.
The delay of the update was confirmed in December, with Insomniac aiming for an early 2024 rollout. At that time, the studio announced it was working on features such as the ability to change the in-game time of day, modify Symbiote abilities’ tendril colors, and replay completed missions. Insomniac expressed the need for more testing to ensure the quality met their standards, suggesting that next month’s update will likely include these features.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was launched on October 20, 2023, exclusively for the PS5. The game allows players to control both Spider-Men, Peter and Miles, enabling seamless switching between the two during exploration. The critically acclaimed action-adventure title is currently available for PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe members to try at no additional cost. A two-hour game trial became accessible on PS Plus on February 6.
