On Thursday, Sony introduced the PlayStation 5 Pro, an enhanced version of its highly successful home gaming console, in select regions. The announcement was made in September, and the PS5 Pro boasts several key improvements, including a more powerful GPU, advanced ray-tracing capabilities, and AI upscaling technology aimed at enhancing image quality. Notably, the new console features double the storage capacity of its predecessor, the PS5, although it lacks a built-in disc drive.
Pricing and Availability of the PS5 Pro
The PS5 Pro is priced at an MSRP of $699.99 (approximately Rs. 58,750). In the UK, the console is available for £699.99 GBP, while its pricing in the EU and Japan stands at €799.99 EUR and ¥119,980 JPY respectively, inclusive of tax. Additionally, customers have the option to purchase an attachable disc drive for $79.99 and a vertical stand for $29.99 separately.
The console is now available for purchase in selected markets, both through participating retailers and directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. Buyers can choose from a standard dual-tone black and white design or opt for a limited edition grey color, offered as part of PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle.
Currently, Sony has not provided a launch date for the PS5 Pro in India.

Specifications and Features of the PS5 Pro
Featuring several hardware enhancements over the PS5, the PS5 Pro aims to deliver improved framerates and higher resolutions. The console is equipped with the same AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU found in the PS5, but it has upgraded RDNA graphics that provide 16.7 teraflops of GPU compute performance.
With 16GB of GDDR6 memory and an additional 2GB of DDR5 RAM dedicated to system tasks, the PS5 Pro also includes a 2TB custom SSD, effectively doubling the storage of the standard model.
In addition, the PS5 Pro introduces advanced ray-tracing technology for more accurate and realistic lighting and reflections during gameplay. It also features Sony’s new AI upscaling capability, called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which utilizes machine learning to enhance image quality.
