Qualcomm has officially released the dates for its forthcoming Snapdragon Summit, scheduled to coincide with Computex 2025 in Taipei. This year’s event will occur in late September, marking a shift from the typical timeframe of past launches. Attendees can expect the introduction of the next-generation chipset, which has been tentatively named the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. For context, the existing Snapdragon 8 Elite was presented at last year’s summit in October.
Snapdragon Summit Scheduled for September
During his keynote address at Computex 2025, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon announced that the Snapdragon Summit will be held from September 23 to September 25 in Hawaii. This marks an earlier than usual date compared to prior events; for instance, the 2024 Snapdragon Summit took place in late October.
The Snapdragon Summit has established itself as Qualcomm’s key venue for launching its next-generation flagship smartphone systems on chip (SoCs). This year, the spotlight is expected to be on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
New devices incorporating the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset are likely to be released in October, allowing smartphone manufacturers sufficient time to integrate the new technology into their premium models.
Rumors suggest that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will deliver a performance boost of approximately 25 percent over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new chipset is reportedly being manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm (N3P) technology and will feature second-generation Oryon CPU cores with a base frequency of 4.4GHz. Additionally, it is expected to support both LPDDR5x and LPDDR6 RAM.
The Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro are expected to be among the first smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. Other devices, including the OnePlus 15, Realme GT 8, iQOO 14, Vivo X300 Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, are also anticipated to feature this new processor. Notably, the Xiaomi 15 series was the first to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC during the previous year.
