Eight Sleep is set to unveil the Pod 5, marking the fifth iteration of its premium smart sleep technology. This new model features two key enhancements: a temperature-responsive blanket and built-in speakers designed to emit calming soundscapes.
Building on Eight Sleep’s previous advancements, the Pod 5 comes equipped with a temperature-regulating mattress cover and an adjustable base, which the company claims can aid in reducing snoring. The newly integrated blanket works in tandem with the mattress cover, providing a water-based heating and cooling range of 55 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit around the sleeper. Temperature control is customizable for each side of the bed, helping to maintain harmony among couples.
Another significant upgrade includes a set of surround-sound speakers embedded in the new base. In collaboration with neuroscientist and podcaster Andrew Huberman, Eight Sleep has introduced a series of Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) guided meditations aimed at fostering deep relaxation. Additionally, users can choose from various calming sounds and white noise, with options to have them deactivate upon falling asleep or to play throughout the night.
In addition, Eight Sleep is enhancing health tracking features with the introduction of Health Check in the accompanying app. This feature records users’ heart rates and breathing patterns during sleep and leverages artificial intelligence to highlight any anomalies detected overnight.
Last year, a review from a colleague indicated that the Pod 4 Ultra provided exceptional sleep, recommending the system. However, potential buyers should note the high price point; the Pod 5 starts at $2,849 for a full-size Core model that includes only the mattress cover and a surrounding hub. The cost escalates to $4,099 when the blanket is added, and goes up to $6,099 for the version with the adjustable base and speakers, along with a mandatory subscription starting at $199 annually.
