On Monday, Samsung introduced its latest artificial intelligence (AI) technology, named Vision AI. This innovative on-screen AI system enhances the functionality of the company’s smart TVs, smart monitors, and other screen-equipped smart home devices. The unveiling occurred just prior to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, where Samsung emphasized that Vision AI will be integrated into its 2025 smart TV lineup, which includes Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and The Frame models.
Samsung Unveils Vision AI Features
In a recent newsroom announcement, Samsung discussed the devices that would support the new AI functionalities. The company stated that Vision AI aims to redefine smart TVs from being “one-directional devices for passive consumption” to becoming “interactive, intelligent partners” that evolve according to user preferences.
Among the new features introduced with Vision AI, Click to Search allows users to swiftly obtain information related to the content displayed on their screens, identifying actors, locations, objects, and more. Additionally, a Live Translate feature will provide real-time subtitle translations, leveraging an on-device AI translation model.
Furthermore, Vision AI empowers users to create wallpapers that transform idle screens into artistic canvases. Samsung has also integrated this AI system with the SmartThings ecosystem, enabling users to utilize their screens as a central hub for various smart home functionalities. This includes Home Insights, which delivers real-time updates on multiple smart home devices, safety alerts, and daily information.
Vision AI also includes a Pet and Family Care feature, which monitors family members and pets. The technology can automatically adjust the environment based on the activities of loved ones; for instance, if a child falls asleep, the AI can dim the lights and set the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature.
In addition, Vision AI will enhance picture and sound quality by dynamically analyzing each frame. The new smart TVs in Samsung’s upcoming 2025 portfolio will also feature a Copilot AI assistant, developed in collaboration with Microsoft. The company has expressed plans to partner with other AI entities, such as Google, to further expand Vision AI’s capabilities.
