On Monday, Samsung launched the stable One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series alongside other smartphones in South Korea. The update brings a host of camera-focused features, which the company has outlined on its community forum.
New Camera Features in One UI 7
In a detailed post shared on its community platform, Samsung highlighted the introduction of LOG video recording support in the One UI 7 update. This feature, often used in professional video production, allows users to record video in a logarithmic colour profile. Videos captured in this format will have a flat and desaturated appearance, while preserving a wide dynamic range that keeps detail intact in both highlights and shadows.
Galaxy users looking to utilize this feature can enable it through the camera app’s settings menu under the Advanced video option. Currently, the LOG video recording is exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series. The update also includes a shoot assist function to help users monitor exposure levels while operating in pro video mode.
Additionally, One UI 7 introduces custom filters designed by AI to complement different environments featured in photos. The update also includes Motion Photos, a feature reminiscent of Apple’s Live Photos, allowing users to capture not just the exact moment but also 1.5 seconds of footage before and after pressing the shutter button.
Samsung has revamped the bottom panel of the camera app to provide new options for adjusting exposure values, enabling grid lines, and other functions. The update also introduces various AI enhancements, including an Audio Eraser feature that removes unwanted noises from videos by adjusting the volume of sounds like voices and environmental noise. Other features include Portrait Studio, multi-mask capabilities, and Auto Trim.
Moreover, overlay translations are now part of One UI, employing Galaxy AI technology to keep the original text color and background intact while translating text within images.
