Samsung has announced the Exynos 2500, marking the introduction of its first chipset manufactured with 3nm process technology. This new processor is touted to provide a 15 percent enhancement in CPU performance and a 39 percent boost in on-device AI performance compared to its predecessor, the Exynos 2400. Additionally, the Exynos 2500 enables direct connectivity with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites for emergency communications, including calls and texts. The South Korean tech giant is anticipated to showcase this chipset with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 at a Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for next month.

Availability of the Samsung Exynos 2500 SoC

While Samsung’s official website has not specified which device will first feature the Exynos 2500 chipset, it has confirmed that the processor is currently in mass production.

According to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, set to be unveiled next month during the Galaxy Unpacked event, is expected to be the first smartphone equipped with the Exynos 2500.

Specifications and Features of the Samsung Exynos 2500 SoC

The Exynos 2500 SoC utilizes a 10-core CPU structured in a tri-cluster configuration (1+7+2) and is built on Samsung’s advanced 3nm Gate All Around (GAA) process technology. Samsung has indicated that the implementation of fan-out wafer-level packaging (FOWLP) enhances heat dissipation, thereby improving power efficiency.

This chipset includes one Cortex-X5 core running at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74GHz, five additional Cortex-A725 cores at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores operating at 1.8GHz. As per Samsung, this configuration yields a 15 percent increase in CPU performance over the Exynos 2400 chip. The Exynos 2500 is compatible with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The Xclipse 950 GPU within the Exynos 2500 incorporates AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, promising a 28 percent increase in frame rates for gaming experiences that utilize hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Moreover, the integrated NPU delivers 59 TOPS and provides a notable 39 percent improvement for on-device AI functionalities.

Smartphones powered by the Exynos 2500 can support camera configurations of up to 320 megapixels, or combinations of two cameras (a 64-megapixel and a 32-megapixel). The chipset is capable of facilitating video recording at resolutions up to 8K at 30fps with 10-bit HDR, or 4K at 120fps. Display support includes up to a 4K resolution (120Hz) or a Quad HD+ resolution (144Hz).

In terms of connectivity, the Exynos 2500 supports 5G technology (boasting speeds up to 12.1Gbps), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. Devices utilizing this chipset may also feature a USB 3.2 Type-C port. Additionally, Samsung has confirmed that the Exynos 2500 will facilitate satellite connectivity for compatible devices.
