The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are set to launch in international markets, including India, over the next few months. Notably, these devices will be the first to feature One UI 8. While the South Korean tech giant continues to distribute its Android 15 update to compatible smartphones, it has revealed that the upcoming foldable models will run on the Android 16-based One UI 8.
Introduction of One UI 8 Based on Android 16 with New Galaxy Foldable Devices
In an announcement earlier this week, Samsung confirmed that its One UI 8 interface, built on Android 16, is poised to make its debut with the company’s “newest foldables this summer.” This statement indicates that the release of these new foldable phones is anticipated in the third quarter of 2025, likely succeeding the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung has stated that these upcoming foldable devices will ship with Android 16, which is expected to be unveiled on Pixel smartphones by the end of June. This is facilitated through a collaboration between Samsung and Google, with the latter adjusting its release schedule for Android upgrades to ensure more timely updates during the year.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the new Galaxy Z Fold FE, the latest Galaxy S series smartphones will also be eligible for the One UI 8 update in the near future.
Owners of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in Germany, Korea, the UK, and the US can currently register for the One UI 8 beta program. These models are expected to be among the first to receive the Android 16 update alongside One UI 8.
According to Samsung, One UI 8 will introduce redesigned versions of several applications, including improvements to the Reminder app and enhancements to the Quick Share feature. Furthermore, smartphones equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 and One UI 8 will support Auracast when connected to certain models of Galaxy Buds.
