On Wednesday, Samsung unveiled its strategic approach to the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and its plans to enhance user experience through innovative features under the Galaxy AI suite. The South Korean technology leader emphasized a shift towards personalized AI services and a hybrid computing model to optimize performance and security for users.
Samsung’s Vision for AI Development
In a recent announcement published on their South Korean website, Kim Dae-hyun, Director of Samsung Research’s Global AI Center, discussed the company’s perspective on the escalating significance of AI and its strategy for integrating this transformative technology into its offerings.
A central element of this initiative is the development of personalized AI capabilities designed to meet the specific needs of individual users, tailored to the unique characteristics of each device. As part of this effort, Samsung intends to create a knowledge graph technology that will link to its generative AI feature, allowing the delivery of highly customized services.
The proposed knowledge graph technology represents a sophisticated method of on-device data collection, designed to extensively analyze user behavior and interaction patterns. With this capability, Samsung aims to offer AI features that assist fitness enthusiasts in tracking their exercise routines and provide navigation assistance for those embarking on lengthy road journeys, all facilitated through the Galaxy AI framework.
In addition, the company is focusing on a hybrid AI approach to deliver rapid processing capabilities without compromising user data security. This hybrid model will leverage both on-device and cloud-based AI processing in tandem to provide advanced features with minimal delay.
Currently, Galaxy AI employs this strategy, with certain functionalities processed entirely via cloud servers, while more sensitive data is handled locally. Samsung plans to continue utilizing this dual-processing model across various AI solutions in development.
Moreover, the company announced intentions to expand its Knox Matrix security solution, designed to safeguard Samsung smartphones and smart TVs, to cover home appliances as well. This expansion aims to create a more secure ecosystem for users across all of Samsung’s device categories.
