On Wednesday, Samsung revealed its plans to integrate Gemini, Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, into its range of wearable devices. Users of the Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds 3 series will soon have access to the AI assistant for tasks such as setting reminders, summarizing messages, obtaining weather updates, and performing various other functions that were previously accessible only on smartphones. This development signifies an expansion of AI capabilities across Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem.
Gemini’s Introduction on Samsung Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds
According to a press release, this integration marks the inaugural inclusion of the Gemini AI within the Galaxy wearable lineup. The Galaxy Buds 3 series, Samsung’s flagship true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, will also feature this integration, with the company describing the activation process as “even smoother.”
With Gemini on the Galaxy Watch, users will enjoy hands-free assistance through natural voice commands. For instance, users can say something like, “Remember I’m using locker 43 today,” prompting the AI assistant to set a reminder. Additionally, it can summarize emails for users who need a quick overview. Samsung claims that Gemini is capable of managing requests across various apps to provide timely responses and actions.
Galaxy Buds 3 series users can expect a particularly seamless interaction with Gemini. Samsung states that users can invoke the AI assistant through voice commands or by pinching and holding the earbuds, enabling them to receive weather updates and more, all without the need to engage with their phones.
In a parallel development, Google is also extending the reach of Gemini to additional devices. This announcement was made during The Android Show: I/O Edition, a precursor to the upcoming Google I/O 2025 event scheduled to start next week. According to the tech giant, Gemini will become available on smartwatches via Wear OS, smart TVs through Android TV, and in-car infotainment systems via Android Auto. Furthermore, headsets and smart glasses utilizing the Android XR operating system will also gain access to the AI assistant’s features.
While the specifics of availability are still uncertain, Google has indicated that features powered by Gemini are expected to be accessible to all users in the near future.
