On Wednesday, Samsung unveiled a series of new artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities for its latest lineup of Galaxy A series smartphones. The South Korean technology company introduced a range of features categorized under the “Awesome Intelligence” branding, which is tailored for their midrange devices. However, this suite does not include the generative AI capabilities found in Samsung’s premium S series models. Presently, the Awesome Intelligence features can be utilized on the Samsung Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 smartphones.
Samsung Introduces Awesome Intelligence Features for Galaxy A Series
In an announcement published on their newsroom website, Samsung highlighted the addition of new AI capabilities to its midrange smartphone offerings. The functionalities included in the Awesome Intelligence menu are primarily focused on enhancing camera performance and providing practical utility, while lacking generative features like Writing Assist, Note Assist, Browsing Assist, or Drawing Assist.
Although Samsung did not explicitly state this, it seems likely that the more advanced AI features have been reserved for their flagship devices. It is unclear whether all functionalities in the Awesome Intelligence suite operate on-device or if some rely on server support. Moreover, these features have not yet been introduced for earlier models in the A series range.
The Awesome Intelligence suite offers users Google’s Circle to Search alongside a new music recognition tool. Additionally, AI Select, Samsung’s proprietary feature that provides contextual suggestions based on what is displayed on the screen— including text, images, and videos— has been incorporated. The suite also introduces Read Aloud, a text-to-speech functionality that can narrate content from any web page.
In terms of camera enhancements, several features have been integrated into the suite. Those using Galaxy A series smartphones will benefit from the Object Eraser, which allows users to eliminate unwanted items from photos, and Edit Suggestions, which analyzes images and provides one-click effects such as background blur and reflection removal.
Furthermore, the Galaxy A56 model is set to receive exclusive AI features, including the Best Face option. This feature enables users to choose the most flattering facial expressions from multiple images taken during group photos. The Auto Trim functionality, which edits together a series of videos to showcase the best highlights, will also be available on this device.
