On Wednesday, Samsung unveiled a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Galaxy A series smartphones. The South Korean technology company introduced the “Awesome Intelligence” suite, aimed at enhancing the functionality of its midrange devices. This collection of AI capabilities is a streamlined alternative to the more advanced Galaxy AI suite found in Samsung’s premium S series, though it does not include the generative features that are part of the flagship offerings. Currently, the Awesome Intelligence features are accessible on the Samsung Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A26 models.

In a recent press announcement, Samsung detailed the integration of new AI tools into its midrange smartphones. The functionalities provided through the Awesome Intelligence suite primarily focus on camera enhancements and practical utilities, omitting generative features such as Writing Assist and Drawing Assist.

While specifics regarding the deployment of these features remain vague, it appears that Samsung intends to keep the most advanced AI capabilities exclusive to its flagship models. There is no clarity on whether the AI tools in the Awesome Intelligence suite operate entirely on-device or if they rely on server-based components. It is also noteworthy that these features have not yet been made available for previous-generation A series smartphones.

The Awesome Intelligence suite introduces users to a variety of new functionalities, including Google’s Circle to Search and a music identification feature, alongside AI Select—Samsung’s own tool that provides contextual suggestions based on visible content across text, images, and videos. The suite also adds the Read Aloud feature, which utilizes text-to-speech (TTS) technology to allow users to listen to content from any web page.

Moreover, the suite includes several camera-centric enhancements. Galaxy A series users will now benefit from the Object Eraser tool, designed to eliminate unwanted elements from photographs, as well as Edit Suggestions that automatically analyze images to propose one-tap effects, such as background blur and reflection removal.

The Samsung Galaxy A56, in particular, is receiving several unique AI features. This model includes the Best Face feature, which enables users to select the most flattering expressions of individuals in group shots by choosing the best individual faces from different images. Additionally, the Auto Trim feature compiles various video clips to highlight the most memorable moments.
