Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 8 update to its latest foldable smartphones, with plans to extend the update to additional Galaxy S series devices in the future. The tech giant recently introduced an innovative AI-driven feature designed to combat the increasing threat of AI-based voice phishing scams, known as the ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’. Currently, this feature is being implemented in South Korea and is only accessible to users with devices running One UI 8, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Further market expansions for this feature are anticipated in the upcoming months.

Functionality of Samsung’s ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’

In an announcement via its community forum, Samsung detailed the new ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’ feature, which will be integrated into the stable One UI 8 update in Korea. A spokesperson for the company indicated that users will see a notification indicating “detecting” when dialing an unsaved number. Currently, the feature is available only in Korean and applies to outgoing calls.

The post elaborated, “When calling an unknown number, we detect and notify you in real time using AI if there is a suspicion of voice phishing.” If a call is flagged as a potential threat, users will receive immediate alerts through sound and vibration.

Samsung’s Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert leverages data from the National Police Agency and the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to identify potential voice phishing attempts. The community post also featured machine-translated screenshots of the feature for better understanding.

Activating Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alerts on One UI 8

To enable the Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert feature, users can navigate to their phone’s app and select Settings > Voice Phishing Suspected Call Notification > Voice phishing suspected call notification to activate the functionality.

At this time, the feature remains exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices that are utilizing the stable version of One UI 8, specifically the company’s newest foldable models. Users interested in the update can verify their One UI version by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install .

Currently, the Voice Phishing detection feature is limited to South Korea. Samsung has plans to introduce it to users in other regions, although a timeline for this rollout or the specific areas that will be included is not yet available.

Samsung launched its One UI 8, based on Android 16, during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event last month. The new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE models are among the devices that come preloaded with this latest interface. Meanwhile, the One UI 8 Beta program is open for select Galaxy flagship models, including the Galaxy S24 series and last year’s foldable smartphones, forthcoming in the next few weeks.
