The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the upcoming flagship smartphone from the company, is anticipated to receive a significant RAM enhancement. Reports indicate that the device may incorporate the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, which Samsung’s semiconductor division first announced in April 2024. This new RAM technology is expected to elevate the device’s performance by 25 percent while also enhancing power efficiency by the same margin. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will reportedly be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra May Feature Enhanced Power Efficiency

A report from SamMobile, referencing a now-deleted post by tipster @UniverseIce, suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could utilize LPDDR5X RAM capable of 10.7Gbps data transfer speeds. This advanced DRAM was introduced by Samsung in April 2024 and is manufactured using a 12nm process, making it the smallest chip size among current LPDDR offerings.

In its announcement, Samsung emphasized that the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM will boost performance by over 25 percent and increase capacity by more than 30 percent compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, the new RAM technology promises a 25 percent improvement in power efficiency.

While SamMobile asserts that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be the first Samsung device to feature this chipset, a conflicting report from GSMArena suggests that it may have also appeared in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The uncertainty stems from the fact that Samsung does not typically disclose the specific RAM type used in its devices, leaving the matter open to interpretation.

Notably, Samsung’s announcement specified that mass production of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM is scheduled to start in the latter half of the year, contingent upon successful verification with mobile application processor (AP) and device manufacturers.

Considering this timeline, the new RAM may not be available for incorporation into devices until late 2024. By that point, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would likely be well into its production phase, making it improbable for the new RAM to be featured in that model. However, this remains speculative until Samsung provides official confirmation.
