The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is set to launch in January 2024, and discussions around the new smartphones have already begun to intensify. In a notable change, Samsung might discontinue the standard and Plus models, introducing instead the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge as part of the new lineup. Latest leaks have emerged providing insights into the battery capacities expected for these devices, indicating a modest enhancement over the existing Galaxy S25 and S25 Edge models.

Battery Capacities of Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and Edge Revealed

A report from GalaxyClub, a Dutch tech site, suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will feature a rated battery capacity of 4,175mAh, likely to be marketed as 4,300mAh. If accurate, this would be an upgrade from the 4,000mAh battery found in the Galaxy S25. Notably, the recently launched Galaxy Z Flip 7 also utilizes the same 4,300mAh battery capacity.

Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to have a rated battery of 4,078mAh, likely advertised as 4,200mAh. This would improve upon the Galaxy S25 Edge, which received criticism for its lower 3,900mAh battery, a limitation often attributed to its slender design.

The Galaxy S26 Pro is believed to have the codename M1 and model number SM-S942, while the Galaxy S26 Edge is associated with the codename M2 and model number SM-S947.

Traditionally, Samsung’s Galaxy S lineup has included a base model, a Plus version, and an Ultra variant. However, recent reports indicate a significant shift for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Instead of introducing the standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, the tech giant is likely to unveil the new Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge, which will be presented alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra in January.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to retain the same 5,000mAh battery as its predecessor while expected to support 60W charging. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 series may offer a 16GB RAM option across all markets. Furthermore, leaks indicate that the Galaxy S26 Edge will be thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge, and Samsung may incorporate ‘new battery material technology’ for improved performance. Additionally, it is speculated to include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera sensor.
