Samsung unveiled its One UI 5.1, which is built on Android 13, during the launch event for the Galaxy S23 series in February. The update introduced various enhancements, notably in camera functionality, but it also triggered reports of significant battery drain across Samsung Galaxy devices. Users specifically noted increased battery consumption attributed to the Samsung Keyboard app. Samsung has now acknowledged this issue on its community forum for Malaysia and has provided a solution via an app update.

According to a post on the Samsung Community discussion, the One UI 5.1 update is confirmed to negatively affect the battery performance of Galaxy devices. The company stated that updating the Keyboard app to its latest version, released on March 2, would resolve the problem. The most recent version of the Samsung Keyboard app (v 5.6.10.31) can be obtained from the Galaxy Store.

To access the update for the Samsung Keyboard app, users should navigate to the Galaxy Store, then go to Menu, followed by Updates, and select Samsung Keyboard before tapping the Update button. If the app has already been updated, the Update button might not be visible.

The One UI 5.1 update, which debuted on February 1, also enhanced the camera experience and introduced the Expert RAW feature for capturing high-quality images. Additionally, it improved multitasking capabilities with the DeX Mode feature, allowing users to resize windows using a customizable splitter. Furthermore, the update permits control of both Galaxy smartphones and tablets using the same mouse that operates a Samsung Galaxy Book.

In addition, the Gallery app benefits from a new Shared Family Album feature that utilizes facial recognition technology to suggest photos for inclusion in the album.

In light of the recent launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 smartphone series, which has received notable upgrades, discussions have also arisen about the increase in pricing. This topic and more are explored in the latest episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and on various other podcast platforms.
