On Tuesday, Samsung revealed the broadening of its One UI 8 Beta program to additional Galaxy devices and new markets. The South Korean technology giant is extending the Android 16-based beta access to its older smartphone lines, which include the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, among others. This update advances the operating system version to Android 16 and introduces new multimodal features, enhancing accessibility, productivity, and security.
Expansion of One UI 8 Beta
Samsung provided insights into the One UI 8 Beta program expansion through a recent newsroom announcement. Starting next week, users of the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in India, South Korea, the UK, and the US will be able to register for the beta program.
Additionally, beginning in September, Samsung plans to further widen the beta program to include more Galaxy models. The devices soon to be eligible for the Android 16-based beta release are:
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Series
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Samsung Galaxy A36 5G
- Samsung Galaxy A55 5G
- Samsung Galaxy A35 5G
- Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
Users interested in the One UI 8 Beta program can sign up through the Samsung Members app. It’s important to note that features may differ by region, with varying availability based on the user’s location. Currently, the beta program is offered in a total of 36 countries.
Samsung initially unveiled One UI 8 alongside the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in July. While the beta for the Galaxy S25 series and older models was expected to start in June, those plans were ultimately not realized.
Now, however, the company is providing developers and beta testers with access to the Android 16-based firmware prior to its official release.
