On Sunday, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, provided a glimpse into the company’s forthcoming artificial intelligence model, GPT-5. Through a social media post, Altman showcased a screenshot featuring an interaction with the model, drawing attention to its enhanced text generation capabilities. While earlier reports suggested a possible release date in August, OpenAI has yet to issue an official confirmation. Altman has previously stated that GPT-5 will be the first model designed to merge the functionalities of both the GPT-series and O-series.
A First Look at GPT-5 Ahead of Its Launch
In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Altman commended the series Pantheon from AMC. When prompted by another user about GPT-5’s recommendation of the series, he shared a screenshot demonstrating that the anticipated large language model had indeed made a suggestion.
In his query, Altman asked the chatbot, “What is the most thought-provoking show about AI?” The AI responded with a curated selection of shows, complete with streaming platforms and brief descriptions, all provided without spoilers.
To compare the responses from different models, Gadgets 360 utilized the same prompt on GPT-4o, which is available to users on the free tier. Initial observations, without benchmark scores, indicate that GPT-5 offers a more conversational tone compared to its predecessor.

Furthermore, the response generated by GPT-4o adhered to a more traditional format with bullet points and subheadings. In contrast, GPT-5’s answers appeared to be more fluid and reader-friendly. The upcoming model also included more factual details in its recommendations, such as Rotten Tomatoes ratings and viewer perceptions, whereas GPT-4o’s output remained more general and focused on plot summaries.
The distinctions in the responses may stem from Altman’s earlier remarks about GPT-5, where he noted that this model would blend the conversational style of GPT with the reasoning capabilities of the O-series. Additionally, GPT-5 is expected to provide access to all of OpenAI’s tools, including Canvas, Web Search, Image Generation, Advanced Voice Mode, and the new ChatGPT Agent.
