Realme has announced plans to invest around Rs. 100 Crore in the development of quad-curved display technology for its smartphones on a global scale. This investment aims to enhance research and development in advanced display manufacturing methods. Chase Xu, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Realme, stated, “At Realme, our goal has always been to bring revolutionary technology to our users.”
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer also emphasized its recent advancements in display technology, particularly with the upcoming Realme 14 Pro series 5G, which boasts an impressive 1.6mm bezel on all sides and a 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. By investing in display technology, Realme aims to continue delivering premium experiences to its smartphone users.
Xu further expressed confidence that the investment in quad-curved display technology will transform the visual and interactive capabilities of its smartphones, establishing new benchmarks in innovation and design within the industry.
This initiative is part of a broader collaboration with Dixon Technologies, an Indian electronics manufacturing services company, which was announced in April. The partnership will involve Dixon Technologies assembling display units for Realme, with an initial capital expenditure of approximately $30 million (around Rs. 255 Crore). The arrangement includes plans to produce about 450,000 units for Realme by May 2024.
Realme 14 Pro’s Colour-Changing Design
Additionally, Realme recently unveiled that its forthcoming Realme 14 Pro 5G series will feature a unique colour-changing back panel. Utilizing a temperature-sensitive technology, the back cover will change color when exposed to temperatures dropping below 16 degrees Celsius, transitioning from Pearl White to Vibrant Blue. The original color will return as temperatures rise.
The design of the Realme 14 Pro series has been a collaborative effort with the Nordic industrial design firm Valeur Designers.
