Realme India has resumed its GT smartphone launches after a hiatus since the GT Neo 3’s introduction, which included a special 150W model. Initially, the GT series consisted of mid-range options like the Realme GT Master Edition, evolving into the gamer-friendly GT Neo series. The previous GT Neo 3 we reviewed in June 2022 was aimed at delivering superior gaming capabilities, but faced criticism for its less impressive camera features and steep price tag of Rs. 42,999, which limited its appeal to general users who sought practical features.

After several years of showcasing GT devices in the Chinese market, Realme has decided to introduce the GT series back into India with the launch of the Realme GT 6T. This new model offers a distinct shift from previous GT devices available in India. What does the new GT have to offer? Let’s explore further.

The Realme GT 6T is priced starting at Rs. 30,999 for the entry-level model, which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This pricing positions it competitively, given its hardware specifications. The smartphone is available in four variants, with the premium version featuring up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, priced at Rs. 39,999.

Featuring a sleek design, the Realme GT 6T accommodates a sizable battery and an advanced vapour chamber cooling system.

Despite its competitive price point, the Realme GT 6T does exhibit some cost-cutting measures. Upon using the device, one noticeable feature is its plastic frame and rear panel which, while showcasing a modern aesthetic, accumulates dust easily and has a slight flex. Interestingly, Realme claims the phone has an IP65 rating, marking a first for the GT series in India despite its plastic construction.

The design of the GT 6T is appealing, featuring a combination of rounded edges and flat sides. The dual-tone finish on the rear panel includes a reflective mirror-like surface near the camera lenses contrasted by a metallic grey finish on the rest of the phone. The front sports a 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED LTPO display, capable of adjusting its refresh rate down to 1Hz to conserve battery life. Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate its impressive 360Hz touch sampling rate and 2,500Hz turbocharged touch sampling, protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Impressively, the device remains slim, all while housing what is claimed to be the largest vapour chamber cooling system available in smartphones. Additionally, it is powered by a robust 5,500mAh battery supporting 120W charging capacity.

The Realme GT 6T stands out as the first mid-range smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, a potent processor drawing architecture and cores from the premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 series, typically found in devices priced above Rs. 50,000.

Addressing previous concerns regarding average camera performance, the GT 6T introduces a new Sony LYT-600 camera with a 50-megapixel resolution. This camera carries a bright f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), promising improved low-light performance. While the same sensor was utilized in the Realme 12+ with disappointing results, it remains to be seen how this camera performs with Qualcomm’s advanced chipset.

The curved edges of the AMOLED LTPO display on the Realme GT 6T enhance its visual appeal.

Supporting all these features is Realme UI 5.0, built on Android 14.

The Realme GT 6T represents a promising advancement for the GT series. While designed for gaming performance with its top-tier hardware, it also strikes a balance with desirable practical features.

Unlike earlier models like the GT Master Edition, which felt underpowered and overly focused on design, the GT 6T aims to appeal to a broader audience.

For now, the combination of hardware and software shows potential for a well-rounded performance, but further testing will be needed to gauge its standing against premium smartphones in the same pricing bracket. Expect our comprehensive review to be published soon.
