The Snapdragon X2 Elite, believed to be the successor to Qualcomm’s initial processor for Copilot+ PCs, is currently undergoing testing within the company. Recent insights from WinFuture’s Roland Quandt on Bluesky indicate that the chipset manufacturer is evaluating its latest flagship processor alongside 64GB of RAM. It is anticipated that the Snapdragon X2 Elite will include 50 percent more CPU cores compared to the X Elite, which was introduced in 2023, and will incorporate Qualcomm’s proprietary Oryon V3 CPU cores.

Snapdragon X2 Elite Expected to Have Increased CPU Core Count

In a recent Bluesky update, Quandt revealed that the SC8480XP chipset (also referred to as the SD X2 Elite) is in testing, equipped with 64GB of RAM. He speculated that the Snapdragon X2 Elite might be outfitted with 18 CPU cores.

Should these assertions prove correct, the Snapdragon X2 Elite will possess a CPU core count that is 50 percent greater than that of Qualcomm’s first-generation chipset. The Snapdragon X Elite, which was unveiled in October 2023, contained between 10 to 12 Oryon CPU cores.

Previously, Quandt mentioned that one variant of the Snapdragon X2 Elite would feature 48GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. His latest commentary suggests the availability of even higher memory configurations for the upcoming chip.

Designed as a system in package (SiP), the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip will integrate the RAM with the chipset, enhancing performance. This design strategy is akin to that of Apple’s Silicon processors, which employ similar technology for optimized efficiency.

Last year, WinFuture reported Qualcomm’s development of the Snapdragon X2 Elite featuring the model number SC8480XP, codenamed “Glymur” or “Project Glymur.” Notably, Qualcomm traditionally uses codenames based on Hawaiian locations, as evidenced by the Snapdragon X Elite’s codename, Hamoa.

No announcements regarding new Snapdragon X series chips were made during Computex 2025, suggesting that Qualcomm is likely to reveal more information at its upcoming Snapdragon Summit in September. This event is also expected to showcase the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 as the company’s flagship mobile chipset.
