Sony has unveiled the free game offerings for PlayStation Plus this May, featuring a selection of four titles headlined by the widely popular football simulation, EA Sports FC 24. Additionally, this month’s lineup includes the action-platformer Ghostrunner 2, the isometric action-adventure game Tunic, and the online shooter Destiny 2: Lightfall. All four games will be made available to PlayStation Plus members across the Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium tiers starting May 7.
The official announcement regarding May’s PS Plus games was posted on the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday. Members can add these titles to their library at no extra cost, provided they maintain an active subscription. While Ghostrunner 2, Tunic, and Destiny 2: Lightfall will be accessible until June 3, EA Sports FC 24 will remain on the service until June 17.
Players should note that the current PS Plus games from April will be available until May 6, after which they will be removed from the service. The previous month’s offerings, announced in late March, featured the first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum, the strategic spinoff Minecraft Legends, and the roguelike platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer. EA Sports FC 24
Football enthusiasts will appreciate EA Sports FC 24 joining this month’s PS Plus selection. This latest installment in the renowned football simulation series, which was released last September, signifies a fresh start as it has moved on from the FIFA branding due to a licensing impasse. Nevertheless, FC 24 maintains the core arcade-style football gameplay, featuring a variety of single-player and online modes.
While the game doesn’t introduce major changes (review), its Ultimate Team and Career modes are expected to keep gamers engaged until the anticipated release of FC 25 later this year. EA Sports FC 24 will be available to players on both PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Ghostrunner 2
Ghostrunner 2, developed by One More Level, is a demanding action-platformer that emphasizes first-person parkour and swordplay. As a sequel to the 2020 title Ghostrunner, players assume the role of Jack, who has the abilities to sprint, dash, wall-run, and slide through intricate platforming challenges while battling enemies with his katana.
The game also includes handy tools such as a grappling hook for improved traversal and shurikens for ranged attacks. Ghostrunner 2 will be accessible to PS Plus subscribers on PS5.
Tunic
Tunic, an esteemed indie action-adventure game reminiscent of classic Zelda titles, allows players to guide a fox through the remnants of a fantastical environment. The narrative unfolds through gameplay and immersive surroundings, encouraging players to uncover new paths and discover manual-like texts scattered across the landscape.
This title fosters exploration and presents numerous puzzles and challenges, all wrapped in a charming visual style that echoes the essence of nostalgic Nintendo games. Tunic will be available on both PS4 and PS5.
Destiny 2: Lightfall
Following the inclusion of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen in the March lineup, Sony has added another significant expansion, Lightfall, to the PS Plus offerings. Released in February 2023, Lightfall is the seventh expansion for Destiny 2, introducing a new storyline, gameplay features, a new Strand subclass, and a vast free-roam environment. Players will need the base game to access this expansion, which is available on both PS4 and PS5.
This month, PS Plus subscribers will also gain access to the PlayStation Plus Football Ultimate Team Starter Pack, providing support for newcomers to FC 24. Additionally, Sony has previously announced the April Game Catalog for PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers, featuring titles like Dave the Diver, Animal Well, and Tales of Kenzera: Zau.
