Preorders for the highly anticipated Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are set to commence next month, according to a recent report. A publication has also disclosed expected pricing for these handheld gaming consoles in Europe, which aligns closely with earlier leaks regarding their costs. The devices are slated to launch concurrently with Microsoft’s live event, during which the company is expected to unveil a new title for the Xbox-branded console developed in collaboration with Asus.
Expected Pricing for Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X
A report from Dealabs indicates that preorders for the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will launch in Europe on August 20. The ROG Xbox Ally is anticipated to retail for EUR 599 (approximately Rs. 60,400), while the Xbox Ally X is expected to be priced at EUR 899 (around Rs. 90,700). These figures correspond to those previously announced by a source last June.
While neither Microsoft nor Asus has officially confirmed these details, Microsoft has organized a presentation for Gamescom 2025, which is set to begin at 3 PM CEST (6:30 PM IST) on the same day the preorders are expected to open. The consoles will reportedly be available for purchase in October.
During the Gamescom 2025 event, Microsoft will provide gamers with an opportunity to try a demo of the upcoming title Hollow Knight: Silksong on the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X. The company has also mentioned other titles that are already accessible on various platforms, including Roblox, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3.
Specifications of Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X
At the Xbox Games Showcase held last month, Microsoft revealed details about the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, developed in partnership with Taiwanese technology firm Asus. The ROG Xbox Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip, complemented by 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of storage. In contrast, the Ally X boasts a more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of storage.
Both console models come with a 7-inch LCD display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, reaches peak brightness of up to 500 nits, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Additionally, the devices include FreeSync Premium and a DXC anti-reflection coating to enhance visibility.
Support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 is standard on both the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. The base model features two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, while the ROG Xbox Ally X is equipped with one USB4 Type-C port and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. Both consoles also have a MicroSD card reader and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
The ROG Xbox Ally is powered by a 60Wh battery, while the ROG Xbox Ally X has a larger 80Wh battery. Both devices can be charged using a 65W charging stand, with the ROG Xbox Ally weighing 670 grams and the ROG Xbox Ally X weighing 715 grams.
