Sony’s recent State of Play event showcased a range of announcements and game trailers, offering both anticipated and unexpected surprises. Fans of Bloodborne continue to await news of a 60fps patch or a remaster for the classic title from FromSoftware, and there were no updates regarding Marvel’s Wolverine or contributions from God of War developer Santa Monica Studio. Nevertheless, the presentation featured a plethora of exciting new titles.

As previously leaked, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater received a new trailer that confirmed its release date as August 28. The showcase also highlighted trailers for already announced games such as Hazelight’s Split Fiction, Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Monster Hunter: Wilds, and the upcoming Borderlands 4, among others.

Although first-party studios Insomniac and Santa Monica were absent from the event, Sony-owned Housemarque unveiled their next project. Following the success of Returnal, the developer is set to release Saros, a new roguelike bullet-hell shooter that will launch exclusively on PS5 in 2026. The game features British actor Rahul Kohli in the lead role.

Continuing its trend of remasters, Sony announced Days Gone Remastered during the event, promising enhanced graphics and new content. This version will be available on both PC and PS5 starting April 25 and includes additional features along with a new survival arcade mode known as Horde Assault. Players who own the original game on PS4 and PC will have access to a $10 upgrade path for the remaster.

Saros Revealed for PS5

Saros, the latest roguelike bullet-hell shooter from Housemarque, is scheduled to release exclusively on PS5 in 2026. The game was introduced with a brief cinematic trailer featuring British actor Rahul Kohli as Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer on a mission to the perilous off-world colony of Carcosa. The trailer demonstrated the game’s roguelike mechanics, showcasing Devraj awakening on a shadowy shore under a solar eclipse. This recurring phenomenon ties into the time loop gameplay element, hinting at bullet-hell boss battles reminiscent of Returnal.

Tides of Annihilation Revealed

Eclipse Glow Studio announced their action-adventure title, Tides of Annihilation, at the State of Play event. Set in the ruins of London, the game merges platforming and action combat. Players will assume the role of Gwendolyn, who has the ability to summon spectral knights to assist her. The gameplay trailer highlighted intense boss encounters, compelling character designs, and fast-paced combat inspired by the Soulslike genre. Players will navigate two contrasting versions of London: a modern, desolate cityscape dotted with remnants of well-known landmarks and a medieval fantasy realm inspired by Arthurian lore. A release date for the game has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Days Gone Remastered Announced

Another remaster is set to join the lineup for PS5 and PC as part of the ongoing trend from Sony. Days Gone Remastered was revealed at the showcase, featuring enhanced graphics, new content, and DualSense features. This remastered version will include a new survival arcade mode called Horde Assault, as well as a Permadeath mode. Owners of the original game on PS4 and PC can upgrade to the remastered version for $10. Days Gone Remastered is slated for release on April 25, 2025.

The new release date trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which had been leaked earlier, confirmed information from earlier weeks. It showcased elements of the storyline and gameplay, including the return of the famed Snake vs Monkey minigame mode. The remake will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on August 28, 2025.

MindsEye Release Window Announced

Build a Rocket Boy, founded by former Rockstar Games executive Leslie Benzies, presented gameplay and cinematic trailers for MindsEye during the event. The action-filled trailer highlighted third-person shooting and driving mechanics set in the fictional desert city of Redrock, with a narrative centered on Jacob Diaz, a former soldier grappling with the remnants of a failed covert operation and a mysterious MindsEye implant. The game is expected to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X this summer.

Lost Soul Aside Release Date Announced

Ultizero Games showcased its title Lost Soul Aside, revealing a gameplay trailer and a confirmed release date at State of Play. Drawing inspiration from Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry, the trailer exhibited dynamic action combat, stunning visuals, and numerous boss fights. Players will traverse various environments while collecting lost souls and confronting formidable foes. Lost Soul Aside will launch on PC and PS5 on May 30, 2025.
