Sony’s latest virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR2, has officially launched in India, nearly ten months after its debut in the US. In the Indian market, the headset, including the visor and Sense controllers, is priced at Rs. 57,990. For those interested in a bundle that includes Horizon Call of the Mountain, the cost is Rs. 61,999. However, stock levels appear to be limited among online retailers. Currently, only Amazon and e2z Store list the headset as available, with e2z offering only the base edition. Other retailers are allowing pre-orders or sending email notifications when the headset becomes available.

The PS VR2 software lineup is also accessible on the PlayStation Store, featuring titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain, which is available for digital purchase at Rs. 3,999. Buyers of the bundle receive a voucher for the game, which comes adorned with unique cover art. Players step into the role of Ryas, a former Shadow Carja warrior tasked with solving a mystery within the Sundom. The game showcases advanced tribal skills, including archery and weapon crafting, as players confront colossal machine adversaries. Throughout the journey, players will interact with series protagonist Aloy and other familiar characters, further developing the Horizon universe ahead of an anticipated sequel to the mainline series.

In the coming days, the PS VR2 is expected to be stocked by various major retailers, including Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, Games the Shop, Reliance Digital, Shop at SC, and Vijay Sales. Currently, Amazon is offering a limited-time 8 percent discount, bringing the price down to Rs. 54,990, matching the cost of the PS5 console equipped with a Blu-ray drive.

While the launch of the PS VR2 marks an exciting development for virtual reality fans, many are reaching out to Sony India regarding the delayed shipments of their Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition orders. Customers who pre-ordered the package in June have yet to receive their copies, with reported indefinite delays from Sony. Notably, there has been no official communication from the company on their social media channels regarding this situation.

The PS VR2 boasts a resolution of 4,000 x 2,040 on its OLED panel, with each eye receiving 2000 x 2040. It operates at refresh rates of either 90Hz or 120Hz, facilitating fluid gameplay. The headset offers a 110-degree field of view, maintaining the same as its predecessor, along with a see-through toggle that allows wearers to view their surroundings without removing the device. Unlike many contemporary VR systems, which require tracking cameras placed in the corners of a room, the PS VR2 operates without such setups. It also features sensory technology that uses motor vibrations to simulate realities and emotional experiences within the game.
