Plaud, the innovative company known for its AI-driven wearable technology, is set to unveil an upgraded version of its credit card-sized note-taking device. The new Plaud Note Pro retains the core features of its predecessor, the Plaud Note, leveraging artificial intelligence to record, transcribe, and summarize conversations. However, this latest iteration introduces two additional microphones capable of capturing audio from a 16.4-foot radius, as well as a one-inch display that indicates battery life, recording status, and the current recording mode.
The Plaud Note Pro has streamlined functionality by automatically switching between recording telephone calls and in-person meetings, eliminating the manual toggle featured in the original model released in 2023. A newly designed “endurance” battery mode extends the recording capability from 30 hours to an impressive 50 hours, although this comes with a reduced audio pickup range of 9.8 feet, similar to the basic version.
Users can access the AI-generated recordings, transcriptions, and summaries via the associated Plaud app. The device also includes a button for a “press-to-highlight” feature, enabling users to mark important information during discussions. Advanced language models employed by Plaud, such as OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini, enhance the summary generation for these flagged points through the app. Alice Gordon-Purdy, a spokesperson for Plaud, clarified that the highlighting functionality is available to both Plaud Note and Note Pro users, accessible through the app or iOS widget.
In addition to the hardware improvements, the Plaud app is set to receive an update in October. This will allow both Note and Note Pro owners to input text and upload images directly from their smartphones. A new “Ask Plaud” feature will also be introduced, enabling users to query the information they’ve captured or uploaded. Consistent with the original model, the Note Pro is compatible with MagSafe technology, allowing it to attach magnetically to the back of a smartphone.
The Plaud Note Pro is priced at $179 and is currently available for preorder, with shipping scheduled to begin in October. The device includes up to 300 transcription minutes per month as a standard offering, with options for upgrades to a $99.99 per year subscription for 1,200 minutes and priority access to new features, or a $239.99 per year plan for unlimited transcription.
