The AI-powered voice assistant from Perplexity is set to be a key feature in the upcoming Motorola Razr, which is scheduled for unveiling on April 24, according to a report by Bloomberg. This announcement follows a teaser video released by Motorola last week, showcasing the foldable phone transforming into the word “AI.”

In addition, Perplexity has been collaborating with the parent company of T-Mobile to develop a new “AI Phone” capable of managing tasks such as flight bookings without requiring user interaction with applications.

Sources cited by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicate that Perplexity has secured a partnership with Motorola to include its AI assistant as an alternative option alongside Google’s Gemini. Motorola plans to implement a distinct user interface that promotes engagement with Perplexity, alongside dedicated marketing efforts.

There’s also potential for the Perplexity Assistant to appear on Samsung devices, although discussions are still in the preliminary stages, according to Bloomberg. While the extent of these negotiations is unclear, establishing a relationship to make Perplexity the default assistant on Galaxy devices—or at least an option for users—could be beneficial. Samsung currently employs Gemini as its primary AI assistant while relying on Google for its search engine services.

Correction, April 17th: A previous version of this article incorrectly reported that Motorola will announce the Razr this week; it is actually set for next week.
