OpenAI is poised to make a significant announcement on Thursday, which is widely anticipated to unveil the much-anticipated GPT-5 AI model. On the platform X, OpenAI shared a message stating, “LIVE5TREAM THURSDAY 10AM PT,” cleverly replacing the “s” in “livestream” with a “5.”
Several indicators suggest a release may be imminent. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently shared a screenshot that prominently displayed “ChatGPT 5” in the upper corner. Additionally, the head of applied research at the company expressed enthusiasm about the public’s reception of GPT-5. In another development, Altman mentioned last month that OpenAI intends to launch GPT-5 “soon.”
Technology News reported in August that OpenAI aimed for a rollout of GPT-5 early in the month. It was also noted that Microsoft had been preparing its server infrastructure to accommodate this new model, as reported earlier this year.
The anticipated introduction of GPT-5 would coincide with a notable week for OpenAI, which had previously announced the launch of GPT-OSS, a free open-weight model capable of operating on personal laptops.
