OnePlus is preparing to introduce the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 smartphones in India on July 8. Earlier this month, the company launched the compact OnePlus 13s featuring the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. New reports, however, suggest that OnePlus is also developing a gaming smartphone, which may incorporate advanced features and shoulder triggers aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. It is anticipated that this device will not be released in markets outside of China, including India.
OnePlus Gaming Smartphone
According to a post on X by leaker Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), OnePlus is in the process of creating a “sub-series” of smartphones specifically for gamers. The device is described as being “still experimental,” indicating that the company might be in the research and development phase.
The tipster mentioned that the likelihood of the gaming smartphone being launched globally is uncertain. Therefore, if it does come to market, it will likely be exclusive to China.
The proposed OnePlus gaming smartphone is expected to feature a flagship chipset, a large battery, and shoulder triggers to enhance gameplay. Currently, no additional specifications or details about the device have been disclosed.
If OnePlus proceeds with the launch of this gaming smartphone featuring shoulder triggers in China, it will compete directly with established models such as the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 9, Red Magic 10 Pro+, and Red Magic 10 Pro.
Meanwhile, Infinix has recently launched the GT 30 Pro 5G in India, which also includes shoulder triggers boasting a response rate of 520Hz. This phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate SoC, paired with an XBoost Gaming Engine and an AI-backed VC cooling system. The device is priced at Rs. 24,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant.
