OnePlus Unveils New AI Features for Upcoming 13 Series Phones
The latest addition to the OnePlus 13 series will debut in India, but users in the United States can expect to benefit from its new AI functionalities soon. Among the standout features is Plus Mind, designed to streamline information storage by allowing users to save essential details in a dedicated “Mind Space.” This innovation eliminates the need for manual entry of important dates and appointments.
Plus Mind has the capability to extract schedules, reservations, event details, and more from images or text, automatically integrating them into the user’s calendar. This data can be swiftly accessed later through OnePlus’ AI search feature. To enhance user experience, OnePlus plans to implement a new enhancement to Plus Mind later this year, which will automatically categorize saved information for better organization.
The feature will first be available on the OnePlus 13S, scheduled for release in India on June 5th. This model is a compact version of the 13T recently introduced in China. Unfortunately, both models will not be available in the US and Europe. They include a new customizable Plus Key button that replaces the brand’s traditional Alert Slider. Similar to the Alert Slider, Plus Key facilitates transitions between normal, mute, and vibrate modes, while also enabling features like launching the camera, audio recording, or translation tasks.
Plus Mind aims to streamline memory tasks with just a push of a button. According to OnePlus, the feature will be accessible to the entire OnePlus 13 series via a forthcoming software update, with plans to expand it to additional devices in the future. Users of older models that lack the Plus Key, including the OnePlus 13, can activate Plus Mind with an upward three-finger swipe. Each OnePlus phone released this year is anticipated to include the Plus Key functionality.
In addition to Plus Mind, OnePlus is developing a comprehensive suite of AI tools. These include an AI translation application that integrates text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation, as well as an image reframing tool that recommends optimal cropping options for photos. An AI editing feature expected to roll out this summer will automatically correct facial expressions and blinking in images.
Moreover, OnePlus is introducing two region-specific features in India. The AI VoiceScribe can “record, summarize, and translate calls and meetings” directly within messaging and meeting platforms, while the AI Call Assist offers automatic summaries and real-time translations during calls. James Paterson, OnePlus’ global PR manager, noted that the company is working toward expanding these features to other regions in the future, contingent upon local AI regulations.
