OnePlus has announced the launch date for its OnePlus 13s in India, set to debut on June 5. The company also introduced OnePlus AI, a new artificial intelligence suite designed for its range of devices, during an event on Tuesday. Alongside this announcement, OnePlus revealed details about the Plus Key, a new hardware button that will be featured on the OnePlus 13s, which can be utilized for various utility functions and to activate multiple AI tools.
OnePlus 13s to Introduce ‘AI Plus Mind’ Feature
The OnePlus AI initiative serves as an overarching name for the AI capabilities across the brand’s devices, akin to offerings from competitors like Galaxy AI and Apple Intelligence. This release is part of continuous enhancements to OnePlus products, which began with the OxygenOS 15 update.
The first prominent feature launched under the OnePlus AI umbrella is termed AI Plus Mind. This tool is designed to allow users to seamlessly save information displayed on their screens as screenshots.
Within the Mind Space tool, users can retrieve saved screenshots by using natural language queries. Although it resembles Microsoft’s Recall feature, activation of this tool must be done manually by the user.
OnePlus emphasized that the AI Plus Mind feature goes beyond basic screenshot functionality; it also employs computer vision technology to analyze images. For instance, the tool can extract scheduling information from an image and directly add it to a user’s calendar. Additionally, OnePlus plans to introduce automatic categorization for saved content later this year.
Initially, the AI Plus Mind feature will roll out exclusively with the OnePlus 13s, with plans for broader availability throughout the OnePlus 13 series through an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Furthermore, OnePlus has announced that its proprietary apps will be integrated with Google’s Gemini, enabling users to request the Gemini AI assistant to perform tasks across various applications, including OnePlus Notes and Clock. However, the company has not specified when this integration will be made available to users.
In a related development, Oppo recently introduced the Private Computing Cloud (PCC), a secure method for users to share data with cloud-based AI tools, implementing encryption and a trusted execution environment (TEE) to safeguard information. OnePlus has confirmed that it will adopt PCC for select AI features as well.
In addition to AI-related updates, OnePlus has shared details about the Plus Key, a customizable hardware button that replaces the traditional alert slider. This button can be programmed for various actions, including switching sound profiles, launching the camera, and initiating recordings. It will also provide quick access to the new AI Plus Mind feature, as well as the existing AI translation capabilities.
