Last week, OnePlus introduced the Android 16 Beta 2 update for the OnePlus 13, targeting developers and beta testers. Users online have highlighted an unadvertised feature included in the update, which is set to enhance the flagship device’s functionality. The update reportedly adds a customizable battery charging limit that allows users to set a specific cap on how much their phone can be charged, promoting longer battery longevity.

This new functionality was detected by an unofficial OnePlus System Apps channel on Telegram shortly after the rollout of the Android 16 Beta 2 update. According to these reports, users can adjust the charging limit anywhere between 80 and 100 percent. Previously, OnePlus had introduced a ‘Charging limit’ feature with the Android 15-based OxygenOS 15, but it only allowed users to restrict charging to a fixed 80 percent.

The new feature allows greater flexibility for OnePlus 13 users, offering the ability to select from five different charging percentages: 80 percent, 85 percent, 90 percent, 95 percent, and 100 percent, with intervals of five percent.

Users can find the charging limit option in the Settings menu under the Battery health section. Once activated, the charging level will be maintained at the chosen limit, such as 80 percent, helping to prolong battery lifespan and reduce degradation. Currently, this feature has only been observed on the OnePlus 13 with the new Android 16 Beta 2 update, with no announcements yet regarding its availability on other OnePlus devices.

While all users have the option to upgrade their devices to this beta software, OnePlus recommends exercising caution, as it is primarily designed for developers and “advanced users.” There is a potential risk of bricking the device, which could render the smartphone unusable.

Additionally, several known issues have been reported with the Android 16 Beta 2 update. These include a blurry camera viewfinder in certain situations, bugs that cause the phone to reboot when using Bluetooth headsets for calls, screen freezing, crashes when Ultra-Steady mode is activated, and delays in locking the device.
