Reports indicate that Bethesda is preparing to launch a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within the month of April. Speculation regarding this remake has intensified over the past several weeks, with industry experts suggesting a release could happen at any point this month. While Bethesda has yet to officially announce this remaster, leaked images have surfaced, lending credibility to the project.
Leak Confirms Oblivion Remaster
Initial speculation suggested a surprise announcement and potential release of the Oblivion remake this April. However, recent leaks indicate that the project is more accurately a remaster rather than a full remake. Screenshots purportedly from developer Virtous, believed to be handling the remaster, reveal enhancements in graphics, character models, and environment details.
These images were shared on ResetEra and circulated on various social media platforms. The promotional artwork confirms the title as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Earlier reports had suggested that the game might be completely rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. Further clarity on the remaster’s features is expected upon the official announcement.
According to leaks derived from the website (via VGC), the remaster is a collaborative effort between Virtous and Bethesda’s Dallas and Rockville studios. The game is anticipated to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, in addition to being available on Game Pass.

Tentative Timeline for Oblivion Remaster Launch
Although Bethesda and Microsoft have yet to officially acknowledge the game, several industry sources suggest that an announcement is imminent. Earlier this month, Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb indicated that a shadow drop of the new Oblivion could occur “at any moment” in April. Another source speculated that the game might launch in the week of April 21, following the conclusion of the Elder Scrolls Online anniversary event, which runs from April 3 to April 22.
Grubb has since refined the release timeline for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, stating during a recent episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast that the launch could happen “next week.”
“I’ll give people a week now. The week of April 21, so basically the last week of this month — next week, essentially,” Grubb conveyed on the podcast. He affirmed that he has received separate confirmation regarding the timing.
The leaked materials hint at a forthcoming announcement, which corresponds with Grubb’s projected timeline. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was originally launched on PC and Xbox 360 in 2006.
